Need to revamp my Archimate 2.0 knowledge so I figured to take a course, though they're all quiet expensive. Started googling around and found some good sources that might be just good enough to get a head start, perhaps I'll follow a course afterwards, we'll see.
Online Sources
- good practices for Archimate from the archimate.nl website in EN and NL
- masteringarchimate blog
- Mastering Archimate eBook, just read first 10 pages and it looks very promising
- Archimate LinkedIn group
- Official documentation from the opengroup, actually not as theoretical as most of the official specs.
Tools
Here's a list of tools you might want to look into
- Archi free basic but perfect to get starting (free)
- Orbus Archimate stencils for Visio: Starter kit with stencils and whitepapers of Archimate (but also togaf, bpm, etc) (free)
- Visio stencils: from archimate.nl (free)
- Bizzdesign Architecture, known from its BPM designer, a tool for Archimate and Togaf modelling ($ ?)
- Sparx and its Enterprise Architect suite support for Archimate 2.0 ($200-$700)
- Visual paradigm ($ 1400)
Of course there are solutions from Troux, Orbus, Mega, Alfabet and SoftwareAG, however, they're in another league than the above ones and not all of them support Archimate.
btw, here's the 2012 edition of Gartner MQ for EA tools
good luck & enjoy :)
